The entire system that drives the Times Square NYE Ball was designed, engineered, and built in Brooklyn, NY.

PROJECT BRIEF & CHALLENGES
The Times Square NYE Ball is one of the most recognized LED installations in the world, operating within a compact spherical structure exposed to weather, temperature variation, and continuous seasonal use.
Delivering the system required navigating the realities of a highly customized build, where weight, access, and environmental exposure shape every decision. Performance is not just technical—it is public, and it must hold over time with limited opportunity for intervention.

APPROACH
5 TEN worked as an embedded partner, helping guide the development of a fully custom power and control system aligned with the realities of the structure.
As the system evolved, constraints were addressed in real time, with power, protection, and enclosure strategies developed in parallel to support a buildable, durable solution. This process established a clear path forward and built the confidence to move into full backend system development

SOLUTION
The final system delivers a compact, durable power and control architecture designed for outdoor operation.
Power, protection, and control are integrated to support consistent performance, while maintaining resilience over time. Enclosures and connections are designed to withstand exposure and repeated use, supporting long-term reliability.
Developed and built in Brooklyn, the system reflects a coordinated approach between design, engineering, and fabrication.
Every project is a connection. From concept to delivery, we bring precision and artistry to every frame.
