A large-scale volumetric LED system for the Esports World Cup 2024 Closing Ceremony, designed to maintain consistent performance across a reconfigurable three-dimensional structure

PROJECT BRIEF & CHALLENGES
Presented as part of the inaugural Esports World Cup, the Closing Ceremony introduced a large-scale volumetric LED installation within a live broadcast environment.
The system was composed of double-sided vertical LED strands arranged to form an open, three-dimensional volume.
Maintaining consistent visual performance across this structure required precise control of spacing, alignment, and pixel geometry at scale. Because the system operated within a live show environment, it was required to perform continuously while supporting movement and reconfiguration throughout the ceremony.

APPROACH
The system was developed as an integrated structure, aligning display, mechanical design, and processing to maintain consistency across the volume.
Carbon fiber alignment grids were used to control spacing and stability, ensuring that pixel geometry remained consistent across all viewing angles. Structural design and display integration were developed in parallel to support both visual performance and physical flexibility.
Configured for live broadcast, the structure was repositioned throughout the ceremony, maintaining alignment and performance as it moved between configurations.

SOLUTION
The final system delivers a large-scale volumetric LED structure capable of maintaining consistent performance across a fully dimensional display.
Display, structure, and control are integrated to support continuous operation under live broadcast conditions, while accommodating movement and reconfiguration throughout the performance.
The result is a system that expands broadcast space into a three-dimensional visual environment.
